The HHS/ED Children's Center is a not-for-profit child development center sponsored by the Departments of Education and Health & Human Services with oversight and support from the General Services Administration, and is overseen by an elected Board of Directors. Established in 1974, the center offers a whole-child approach to early education, emphasizing play, learning, the arts, and a nurturing environment. The center is licensed by the District of Columbia's Office of the State Superintendent of Education, and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The center is managed by Reggio's Treehouse as of August 2022.
Open weekdays from 8:00 AM until 5:30 PM, the center accepts children from six weeks of age through the pre-kindergarten years.
